The Director of Residence Life is responsible for creating a dynamic residence life program with well-trained staff who are dedicated to student engagement, learning and principled community. The Director will work with the Dean of Students & Campus Life, along with other student life colleagues, to create a community standards model that will establish a commitment to diversity and inclusion as well as self-governance model in the residential community. The Director of Residence Life is responsible for administering all aspects of the residence life program including housing operations, community development, crisis response, planning and assessment, budget management, and annual reports. The Director manages an operating and student wage budget of more than $275,000 and develops and administers policies, standards, and goals for the department which are consistent with the mission and goals of the University and the Division of Student Life. Reporting directly to the Dean of Students & Campus Life, the director serves in the on-call system for after-hours and crisis support. Specific Responsibilities:
Serve as the chief housing officer with responsibilities including coordinate all housing processes; maximize and manage residential population; and facilitate data management
Manage the daily operations and administration of a residential community
Manage a growing departmental staff that includes an assistant director and 2 area coordinators
Evaluate residence life staffing patterns and personnel responsibilities to ensure a match with strategic initiatives, organizational change, and University growth
Maintain a consistent/predictable presence in the main office and provide a frequent presence in all residential communities
Manage the annual renewal of all Residence Life documents, literature, policies and procedures
Facilitate and encourage the establishment, growth, and maturation of living and learning and other intentional residential communities
Collaborate with other departments and the university broadly on committees and initiatives
Live on campus and participate in the on-call duty rotation

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and public relations skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with multiple audiences
Experience in assessment including developing learning outcomes and using data to evaluate and adjust programmatic functions or services Education Earned master’s degree in college student personnel, higher education administration, or related field required. Experience Five years of progressive and transformative leadership experience in residence life required. Demonstrated success in developing or supporting a comprehensive residence life program, advanced knowledge of student development and student learning theory, and strong leadership and administrative skills required. Physical Demand Position requires the ability to move about the campus, sometimes frequently throughout the work day. Position requires the ability to give and to receive instruction. Position requires the ability to communicate synchronously in person and by phone and asynchronously via email and other electronic means. Position requires the ability to read printed and handwritten text on paper and computer monitors. Position occasionally includes need to stoop, crouch, and bend as well as the ability to occasionally lift up to 10 pounds. Working conditions are primarily indoor. This position requires occasional night and weekend hours.
