Digital Content Coordinator (Publications Coordinator)

Reporting to the Director of Content and Digital Marketing Services at Harvard's Division of Continuing Education (DCE), this role focuses on coordinating, developing and maintaining marketing collateral for the division, as well as School-specific initiatives.
In partnership with the Senior Editor, the Digital Content Coordinator is expected to play a critical role in achieving ambitious DCE-wide growth goals. The position requires a thorough understanding of the Harvard Extension School, Harvard Summer School, and Harvard Professional Development brands, students, and other key stakeholders.
DCE will rely on this person to collaborate with marketing team members and outside vendors on coordinating marketing content, in keeping with user experience best practices, search engine optimization (SEO) techniques, marketing objectives, and messaging priorities.
Performs day-to-day coordination of digital marketing and advertising activities
Coordinates the production of advertising and marketing content (including text, multimedia, and photography) in keeping with marketing objectives, messaging priorities, search engine optimization techniques, and user experience best practices
Proposes video, feature article, and other digital content ideas; may draft and edit posts and liaise with a team of outside writers and proofreaders
Maintains advertising schedules and serves as project manager for several print and digital advertising projects
Edits text for style, consistency, clarity, and substance and helps maintain the division's editorial stylebook
Implements keyword research for search engine optimization and advertising purposes
Draws upon tools such as search engine analytics software to inform advertising and content ideas; shares information with marketing services team
Coordinates the weekly activities of advertising vendors, performing project management tasks, tracking and reporting on progress, and shares monthly reporting with the marketing team
Conducts weekly audits of advertising and digital marketing assets to ensure content and functionality is current and accurate
Collaborates on the development and refinement of marketing content types, taxonomies, and digital assets, including photography and video
The Division of Continuing Education (DCE) comprises several entities including the Harvard Extension School, the Harvard Summer School, the Harvard Professional Development Programs and the Harvard Institute for Learning in Retirement. For more than a century, Harvard Extension School has made Harvard faculty and teaching accessible to a diverse community of local, national, and international students. Harvard Extension School enrolls approximately 13,000 students per year in approximately 65 liberal arts and professional fields. More than 650 open enrollments online and classroom courses are offered at affordable prices to our communities across the world. Harvard Summer School offers approximately 300 courses on the Harvard Campus to 6,000 secondary school, college and adult learners and more than 30 international study abroad programs for up to 600 students each summer. The Division also includes the Harvard Institute for Learning in Retirement with approximately 550 active members and Harvard Professional Development Programs offering about 60 two-day, noncredit courses annually.

BA/BS required along with a minimum of five years of progressive experience in a business or marketing role.
Demonstrated competency using technology including but not limited to Drupal, Word, Excel, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, etc.) and social marketing tools.
The successful candidate will have experience in marketing, digital media and advertising, web editing, or communications. The ideal candidate must have exceptional interpersonal and project management skills, and a proven record of working collaboratively with a wide range of constituents. Though a self-starter, the candidate must be able to work as part of a larger, complex, and evolving team and to balance interests and needs of a variety of stakeholders.
Other skills include: strong written and verbal communication, knowledge of current trends in content strategy and development, advertising, and digital marketing. Should have a demonstrated record of success in positions of progressive responsibility in marketing for a complex and fast-paced organization.
Should also possess the ability to set priorities and manage competing demands.
Experience working in higher education preferred, as well as an interest in and knowledge of the educational landscape related to nontraditional students and life-long learners. Experience using Google Analytics a plus.
