At the BASF Huntsville Plant, we make the chemistry and technology used in vehicle catalytic convertors and other environmental products. As part of our team, employees help us conceive, design, implement and validate new equipment, technologies and processes to help make our world's environment cleaner. Our Quality Control Department plays a vital role in the success of our plant. The current open position is a working lab position that is responsible for the management of 5-6 night shift employees. Position will require the candidate to prioritize work flow, monitor shift performance and be hands on in the various testing processes as needed to ensure sample completion in light of staffing needs. Uncompromising attention to detail is required for the position.
Candidate should have familiarity with the lab testing processes and an ability to learn quickly.
Generates data from a variety of laboratory techniques and analytic instrumentation, such as grinding mills, calcination ovens and pellet press.
Candidate should be familiar with XRF analytical testing.
Must be able to read and understand PS documents, Work Instructions, SOP documents, and LIMS/SAPQM data.
Adheres to company procedures and work instructions and industrial standards regarding sampling and testing techniques and proper handling and preparation of raw material and final product samples in support of company's environmental objectives.
Conducts engineering specification testing to assure final product meets or exceeds customer specifications.
Identifies, investigates and reports on nonconforming final products and other materials.
Accesses data acquisition software and inputs test records and report results using a variety of computer software systems.
Demonstrates the ability of helping keep work flow balance on schedule during the shift when necessary.
Candidate must be strongly self-motivated and will be asked to manage the incoming sample requests from multiple locations which shall include sample receipt, documentation within SAPQM database systems and communication of results to production team members.
Strong motivator and strong communicator.
Conducts training for new employee additions to shift.
