Ball State University is accepting applications for the Professional position of Collections Development Librarian in University Libraries.
Ball State University Libraries includes Bracken Library and branch libraries in the Cooper Science Building and Architecture Building. The Libraries employ 47 professionals and 70 staff employees. With over 1.5 million volumes and 250 databases, the Libraries provide access to a full spectrum of scholarly resources and also offers vibrant learning space for over 1.4 million annual visitors.
The salary for this position is $ $52,000.00.
Major responsibilities: Perform activities related to developing and sustaining University Libraries’ resource collections to meet user needs, including material selection, deselection, preservation, evaluation and assessment; coordinate collection maintenance activities and replacement and gift operations; serve as collection development liaison for assigned departments.
Minimum qualifications: MLS/MLIS/MIS degree from an ALA accredited program.
Professional experience in library acquisitions, collection development and management, or other related area; experience with library automated systems, such as OCLC, ALMA.
Effective oral and written communication skills; working knowledge of basic Microsoft Office applications.
Collections development or acquisitions experience in an academic library; familiarity with publishers and trends in publishing, both print and non-print; demonstrated analytical abilities including use of qualitative/quantitative data analysis and proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with project development and management.
An awareness of current issues and trends in librarianship and potential for scholarly and professional achievement.
