TECHNOLOGICALEXPERTISE BY CANDIDATES IN STRUCTURALBIOLOGY, ENZYMOLOGY, SYNTHETICORGANICCHEMISTRY, HIGHTHROUGHPUTSCREENINGAND/OR COMPUTATIONALCHEMISTRY/BIOLOGYWOULDCOMPLEMENTTHECURRENTFACULTY. THESELECTEDFACULTYMEMBERWILLALSOSUPPORTTHEDEPARTMENTWITHTEACHINGRESPONSIBILITIES IN MEDICINALCHEMISTRY IN THESEAREAS AT THEUNDERGRADUATE, PROFESSIONALANDGRADUATELEVELS.
1.Teaching: Faculty member will have teaching responsibilities in the areas of medicinal chemistry at the undergraduate, professional (Pharm.D.) and graduate levels. Possible course assignments may include but are not limited to: lectures in MEDC310 (Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Design), selected lectures in various courses in the Pharm.D. curriculum, e.g., the Pharmacotherapy sequence and other graduate courses as needed. In addition, faculty will mentor research projects of undergraduate and graduate students who are registered for MEDC697
2.Research: Faculty member must continue or establish a nationally recognized research program with a record of publication in refereed journals and external funding. The successful applicant is expected to develop interdisciplinary collaborations to enhance the research program in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery/design at VCU, and in addition, will mentor professional and graduate students in his/her research laboratory.
3.Service: Faculty member will serve on Departmental, School, and/or University committees as necessary, as well as in a professional capacity in their field, e.g., reviewer, conference organizer, etc.
5.Other (for instance, administrative duties, etc.): To be determined, based on qualifications.
Required PhD, or other doctoral degree in the pharmaceutical sciences or a closely related field.
Significant postdoctoral research experience in a relevant discipline.
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
TEACHINGEXPERIENCE IN A PROFESSIONALSCHOOLENVIRONMENT.
