Associate Director â Patient Access establishes currentand longârange product direction forthe Patient Access applications delivered by HealthIT at VUMC. This individual leads the scheduling and registration project and support activitieswithin the Patient Access and Revenue Cycle portfolio at VUMC. The Associate Director â Patient Access leadssolution development, integration, implementation and maintenance activitiessuch that they align with the needs of VUMC customers, both current and future. This individual also works with governancegroups and key business stakeholders
PRIMARY ESSENTIALJOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops and maintains technical and businessknowledge of patient access systems in use or planned for use at VUMC.
Focuses on creating value for our customersthrough delivery and integration of commercial software systems.
Focuses on sustainability of VUMC systems tomaximize the value of software investments and minimize ongoing operatingcosts.
Working closely with key business sponsorsincluding hospital and clinic COOs, PCC patient access leaders, access centerleadership, key vendors and appropriate governance groups, identifies solutions, product requirements and drivers.
In collaboration with key business sponsors andHealthIT Portfolio Directors, develops product strategies in alignment withbusiness and technology strategies.
Plans and manages the execution, monitoring andmeasurement of commercial and/or integration product strategies.
Leads and champions solutions development lifecycle procedures and practices for the Patient Access portfolio at VUMC.
Delivers product and project guidance to the product organization, ensuringappropriate tradeoffs are being made and overall alignment with HealthIT and productstrategy is maintained.
Promotes and leverages the HealthIT governancestructure to prioritize Patient Access efforts and maintain business andHealthIT alignment.
Collaborates with key business sponsors, defines applicationservice levels and delivers to agreed upon standards.
Participates asa member of the HealthITExecutive team.
Working closely with key business sponsors, drivesimprovement into processes within Patient Access and Revenue Cycle portfolio.
Attract, retain, develop and motivate Patient Accessteam leaders and staff.
Keepsabreast of health care industry drivers and the organizationâs strategicobjectives; and
Performsother duties as assigned by HealthIT Management.
Provides clear, appropriate and timelycommunication to promote a team environment throughout the department andorganization.
Complies with VUMCâs Client Service Standardsand Credo.
Participatesin education and professional development as necessary to maintain job-relatedskills and competencies.
Promotes VUMC in apositive light to the community.
Bachelorâs degreein Business, ComputerScience, Informatics or a relatedfield is required.
Masterâs degreein Business, Computer Science, Informatics or a related field is preferred.
Minimum of ten(10) years of experience and success in leading solutions development andintegration teams in a healthcare setting with at least five (5) of those yearsin an Epic Patient Access application environment.
Extensiveknowledge of patient scheduling, referrals, ADT, patient movement, and kiosks ina large, complex, multi-hospital healthcare setting.

PHYSICAL,MENTAL AND VISUAL SKILLS:
Must be ableto sit or stand, talk on the telephone, and work at a computerworkstation. Manual dexterity isnecessary when working on the computer keyboard or with a pointing device. Visual and mental stress is common and mentalconcentration is essential.
Must bemobile. Significant distance separatesIS staff offices from clinic centers, departments, conference rooms and othercustomer locations. Travel to customerlocations, vendor sites, conferences or other venues may be necessary as partof any project. Occasional overnighttravel may be required.
Ability tobe analytical with parallel, multiple tasks.
Ability tobe self-starting and creative within an organization.
Work is in an office areausing standard office equipment. Somesituations may require visits to patient-seeing areas.
