The Production Studio Assistant is responsible for fostering a positive team-oriented work environment with an emphasis on public service and the mission of the 7-day-a-week program of the Lawrence Hall of Science. Incumbent serves as a member of the Production Studio team assisting with exhibit installations, fabrication, repairs, refurbishment and general operation/maintenance of educational materials and exhibits, reporting directly to the Shop Superintendent. This position is a Limited Appointment with a maximum duration of 900 hours.
Under supervision provides skilled and semi- skilled mechanical and carpentry work a variety of tools processes, and materials. Responsible for daily turn on/turn off of interactive exhibits ensuring all elements are functional, and maintain educational materials for the museum floor and classrooms reporting to Shop Superintendent when assistance is needed. Position maintains storage and shop areas including tools and machinery, and ensures proper use of safety equipment.•Minimum 2 years experience in a general shop or skilled trade with a variety of tools used in metal, plastics and woodworking, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, must include experience •Excellent communication skills and attention to detail, team-oriented attitude •Graduation from High School or GED •Weekend and holiday work required. • Valid California Driver’s License.
