University Dental Health Services, Inc. (UDHS) is a private dental practice staffed by licensed dentists who serve as faculty of the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. The UDHS Oral Pathology Biopsy Service is recognized for excellence in diagnostic oral pathology, providing high-quality services to patients of dental and medical practices located throughout the region. UDHS is seeking a strong and flexible administrator to provide front office, billing, and basic laboratory support for the Oral Pathology Biopsy Service.
This position is responsible for all aspects of patient administration, from contacts with referring offices through billing and collection of fees. Duties include communicating with clinicians' offices and laboratory personnel, addressing quality assurance issues, registering patients in the electronic health record system, preparing and submitting insurance claims, posting payments from insurers and patients, and researching and resolving denials. The incumbent will respond to billing questions and perform a variety of other duties related to maintaining practice, provider, and patient accounts. The incumbent will also provide basic support of the laboratory, including accessioning pathology specimens, ordering supplies, dispensing common laboratory chemicals, filing slides, and maintaining records for OSHA and CLIA inspection. With respect to the various aspects of the position, the incumbent's work will be supervised as appropriate by the lab manager or the billing manager.
Accuracy, attention to detail and an ability to understand the mechanics of patient, provider and practice account administration are critical to success in this role.
