<p>Description<br />Work within the CTSI Best Practices Integrative Informatics Core (BPIC) to serve informatics needs for the Department of Psychiatry. In this role, you will become the data manager and SME of Department of Psychiatry data. You will also work with the CTSI BPIC team to implement database engineering tasks in the secure data environment and connect with the other Informatics resources for overall implementation plans.<br /><br />Principal Duties:<br /><br />Data Management<br />• Meet with Department of Psychiatry faculty and staff to introduce available Informatics services.<br />• Become the go-to person for data source descriptions, data flows, data element mappings, enrichment and integration needs<br />• Work closely with domain experts at the department of Psychiatry for day-to-day work load and assignments<br />• Ensure user satisfaction with their experience as a customer of the Best Practices Informatics Core (BPIC) offerings<br />• Help to develop and manage process maps, related standard operating procedures and forms, for researchers/end users to improve satisfaction of researchers and ensure compliance with security, access, and archiving policies in place.<br /><br />Database Engineering<br />• Interact with other technical team members to analyze source system data, understand the data structures, definitions and anomalies.<br />• Write SQL statements, stored procedures and views using industry best practices for security and efficiency<br />• Develop database models and architecture. Create ERD diagrams.<br />• Performance optimization, including query tuning, process structuring / scheduling, schema adjustments, code refinements, and scaling analysis<br />• Perform extract, transformation and load (ETL) functions.<br />• Develop and maintain technical design documents.<br />• Assist in the research and selection of tools, products and frameworks as necessary to support business initiatives.<br /><br />Communication<br />• Keep the Biomedical Health Informatics (CTSI-BMHI) Director, senior management and other key stakeholders informed of BPIC service delivery progress, delays and issues that may impact BPIC service delivery goals through regular communications. Represent ICS in relating issues to Privacy Officer, Data Stewards (Fairview and UMP), and AHC-IE Architecture Workgroups.<br />• Continually seek to improve knowledge of new data sets and data enhancements<br />• Work on a proactive approach to addressing the need for a Psychiatry data registries<br />• Have regular check-in meetings with Department of Psychiatry experts</p>
<p>Essential/Required Employee Qualifications<br />• BA/BS and 6+ years of relevant analytical or quantitative work experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 4 years of experience in areas directly related to the position.<br />• Experience with a major relational data management system. (e.g. Oracle, MS SQL Server)<br />• Experience developing PL/SQL and/or T-SQL, stored procedures, indexes, partitioning, and database tuning.<br />• Experience with using ETL tools. (e.g. Pentaho, SQL Server Integration Services)<br />• Experience with developing database documentation, including ERDs, Data Dictionaries, and Data Flow Diagrams.<br />• Excellent verbal/written communication skills.<br />• Superior human relation skills, such as, the ability to use positive language communications to serve and influence our customers and stakeholders, work well with the team<br />• Multi-tasking capabilities to prioritize assignments and work under limited supervision; ability to deliver complete results.<br />• Comfortable providing rapid and timely response to urgent requests that impact clients<br />• Comfortable following directions/instructions from Supervisor and senior staff on existing processes.<br /><br />Selection Criteria<br />• Experience with the design and maintenance of enterprise-wide database systems.<br />• Experience within a healthcare database/data warehouse setting will be considered a plus.<br />• Strong customer-facing experience, preferably with physicians, investigators, faculty/academic and research support staff.<br />• Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and superior human relation skills.</p>
