Autism Non-Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Education
The Supporting Transformative Autism Research (STAR) initiative at the University of Virginia (UVA) seeks candidates for a non-tenure track Assistant Professor. The STAR initiative represents a significant investment in advancing cutting-edge autism research, training, and services at UVa.
A member of the newly established STAR Autism Research to Practice Team, the incumbent plays an integral role in developing and implementing frameworks for integration of clinical research and training into new and existing systems of care for children with autism. Additional responsibilities include providing comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for autism and other developmental disorders, participating in interdisciplinary teams, conducting psychological and psycho-educational assessments, and providing evidence-based interventions and/or consultations for individuals and families. Services are provided in partnership with the Sheila C. Johnson Center (SCJC) for Human Services, Developmental Pediatrics, and community partners and programs including the Virginia Institute of Autism. Supervision of trainees, including graduate students in the Clinical and School Psychology Program and/or postdoctoral fellows are an essential element of this position. Duties also include developing new services and models to improve access to care for individuals with ASD and their families, participation in clinical research, evaluation of program outcomes, and providing community-based training's focused on autism.
A doctorate in clinical, counseling, or school psychology from an APA-approved program or a doctorate in a related field is required by the start date of the position. Applicants must have or be eligible for licensure as a psychologist in Virginia. Previous experience in evidence-based assessment and intervention with children with autism is required. Training in the ADOS/ADI-R and at least one year of experience in an interdisciplinary autism clinic is preferred. An explicit commitment to diversity and of advancing understanding and outcomes for underrepresented groups is required. Demonstrated ability to deliver culturally competent mental health services is also required.
This faculty appointment is contingent upon the availability of funding.
