3M is currently seeking a Technical Sales Representative, for our Advanced Materials Division.
The person hired for the Technical Sales Representative position will primarily sell Fluoropolymer resins to processors in the Southeast USA. The priority will be Wire & Cable manufacturers that produce plenum-rated fiber optic cable and category cable for the data and communications industry. Additional market focus will include, but is not limited to, alternative energy, oil & gas, automotive and the chemical processing industry. Additionally, a working knowledge of applications and uses for any, or all, of the following AdMD products: hollow glass microspheres, ceramic microspheres, polymer processing additives, fluorochemical surfactants, silicon nitride and silicon carbide ceramics, is a plus. A company car will be provided.
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Create key account plans to maintain and grow sales to existing customers Develop sales to new customers Uncover new opportunities at existing and potential customers Identify the best 3M Advanced Material solution for an application and provide data and information to support product approvals at the customer level Develop tactics and coordinate efforts to fulfill objectives Plan and manage time and resources for effective coverage of territory, communications, and other responsibilities Complete call reports and other paperwork in a timely manner Apply Advanced Material Division marketing policies, procedures and plans Apply understanding of 3M’s brand and innovation story, individual value propositions, and knowledge of applications to maximize revenue for AdMD Demonstrate and train external customers on product applications. Shares key learnings on new applications with the global 3M team to foster replication Report all new or unusual pertinent market conditions, competitive activities, and product performance information to supervisor and business manager Collaborate with fellow sales account managers for those accounts, such as compounders and mixers, where pull through selling is required
Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science discipline from an accredited university Minimum of two (2) years of combined experience in the polymer and/or chemical industry as a Sales Representative or Application/Product Development Engineer Current, Valid Driver’s license
Five (5) years of technical sales experience in the Fluoropolymer industry Proficient in the use of SalesForce.com Experience working with the senior management of small and large companies driving further account penetration Ability to identify future market trends and position AdMD products for success Ability to engage and sell to all decision makers, including executives, purchasing, engineering, and manufacturing operations Experience in technical support activities with customers Strong problem solving/troubleshooting skills Excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal and written) Strong people skills and ability to work with cross-functional team Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and accommodate changing circumstances Proven leadership skills Ability to work with conflicting, delayed or ambiguous information Patience and ability to work long sales cycles of up to five years before close
Location: North Carolina is preferred
Territory: VA, NC, SC, GA, FL, TN with travel to KS.
Travel: Overnight travel required - A minimum of 25% and a maximum 50%.
Relocation: Not authorized.
