The Dragas Center for Economic Analysis and Policy at Old Dominion University is seeking candidates for the Technology Administrator (full-time, 12 month) position. This position will support the wide-ranging public policy analysis activities of the Dragas Center for Economic Analysis and Policy, to include providing analytical rigor in the writing of the State of the Commonwealth Report, State of the Region Report, the Economic Forecasting Project, and monthly analysis of labor markets and economic conditions in Hampton Roads and the Commonwealth of Virginia. This position will also support and enable the production of these reports. The TA will manage and populate the Dragas Center for Economic Analysis and Policy web sites and ensure that social media sites and interactions are optimized. This position will harvest and collect data, especially the extraction, integration, and analysis of relevant economic and financial data from U.S. government, state and private sources such as Moody’s. The TA will supervise graduate students and contract personnel who assist in these tasks.
Required Education: Master’s degree in mathematics, statistics, business, economics or a related field or bachelor’s degree in the preceding fields of study with related work experience equivalent to a master’s degree.
Required Qualifications: Considerable knowledge of economic principles and practices including the collection of economic data and the analysis and reporting of financial data using computer applications such as R, PYTHON, SPSS and/or SAS, Microsoft Office (Access, Excel and Word) for data analysis and desktop publishing and a solid grasp of search engine analytics. Demonstrated ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial and economic data and then communicate that information in numerical and narrative form for Center reports and presentations. Extensive experience utilizing Microsoft Excel and Power Point to create various type of advanced charts and graphs. Experience reading/writing SQL queries in a Relational Database. Demonstrated ability to produce and manage high-impact presentation materials using Microsoft Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Excel. High aptitude for data analysis and problem solving in an operational environment. Initiative to drive for timely results and work effectively with minimum supervision. Effective communication skills, both oral and written, and able to work effectively with users in remote locations. Ability to work in fast paced, high-pressure environment; meet deadlines, manage and prioritize multiple tasks; and demonstrate a high level of organization.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in economics. Familiarity with Qualtrix or similar tools.
