Position Summary: The University of California, Office of the President Systemwide Human Resources Fellows program is a unique opportunity for three (3) motivated professionals to gain valuable experience working on innovative assignments and developing skills to continue a career in Human Resources.
This is an 18 month rotational program consisting of two assignments typically lasting 9-12 months, but may vary. Throughout the 18 month program, Fellows will have additional opportunities to enhance current skills through professional development training and networking.
Fellows will work on Systemwide projects and programs as assigned within Systemwide HR to develop management/leadership skills. Specific assignments will be determined by business needs and opportunities, as well as the Fellow's interest and background.
The Fellow uses skills as an experienced professional with a broad understanding of organizational practices and priorities to assess, develop, and implement aspects of assignments within the Systemwide HR office. Has ability to gather, organize, complete analysis and develop recommendations to meet assignment deliverables.

Duty 1: Contributes to strategic HR initiatives within a specific business unit (e.g. Compensation - Career Tracks, Talent Management - LMS, etc). Provides support to departments in administering policies and programs in the areas of Compensation, Benefits, Labor Relations and Talent Management and other areas of HR. Function:1 Percent: 40
Duty 2: Performs analysis of data and systems pertaining to moderately complex projects, policies and/or processes and functions. Function:2 Percent: 20
Duty 3: Collaborates in the execution of core HR processes such as Benefits, Compensation, Labor Relations and Talent Management. Function:3 Percent: 30
Duty 4: Other duties as assigned. Function:4 Percent: 10
Job Requirements Possesses strong analytical skills to conduct analysis and recommend solutions and takes into consideration the often-conflicting needs of various stakeholders.
Ability to prioritize work assignments and integrate information to determine appropriate courses of action and their implications.
Ability to work productively in a collaborative environment to consistently meet deadlines and handle difficult or volatile situations/individuals effectively.
Possesses strong written verbal interpersonal and communications skills to effectively collaborate with all levels of staff.
Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
Must be skilled in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and common desktop/web applications.
Has thorough knowledge of human resources concepts, policies and procedures, employment practices, labor relations, salary administration, training and other areas of human resources. Required
