The Coordinator for International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) serves as a point of contact for all international students seeking assistance with adaptation to U.S. culture. In addition, the Coordinator works closely with international students to help them access resources and services, with faculty and staff, to protect and improve international student retention, and with parents of international students, to assist in student adjustments.
This role ensures institutional compliance with Department of Homeland Security and Department of State Immigration regulations for F-1 and J-1 students and scholars. To be a Designated School Official (DSO) and an Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO), per federal regulations, applicants must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. lawful permanent resident.
This role coordinates international student pre-arrival, arrival, orientation, on-going orientation services and annual tax services. In addition, this position assists international students in adapting to life in the U.S., Omaha, and at Creighton University to improve opportunities for student success and retention.
The ISSS Coordinator also supervises an intern each semester as applicable.

Master’s degree in Education or field related to international education
Experience as Designated School Official and/or Alternate Responsible Officer
Experience creating and managing programs;
Experience with populations whose first language is not English; experience in higher education student services working with international students; experiences with public speaking and/or counseling; and a collaborative working style
Exceptional organizational, leadership, adaptability, initiative, and flexibility
Second language ability (preferred)
Must be willing to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends
