Involves serving as the technical administrator for hardware, operating systems, and network management. Plans and coordinates the installation, configuration and testing of hardware and software components. Work may involve central or departmental computer systems and networks. Applies advanced systems infrastructure concepts and campus objectives to resolve highly complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Selects methods, techniques and evaluation criteria to obtain results. Gives presentations to associated team and other technical units. Evaluates new technologies including performing moderate to complex cost / benefit analyses. May lead a team of systems / infrastructure professionals.
UCSC Extension is an academic division of the University of California, Santa Cruz, and is classified as an auxiliary unit and merchant of the University of California. Extension provides employment for over 80 full-time employees and 500 instructors, and administers its own academic personnel and student services, facilities and operational services, Information Technology, marketing and communications, business administration, and online education services. Extension is a self-supporting operation in a highly competitive and fast-paced business environment and is managed with a high degree of financial discipline and performance accountability. Open year-round for general admission, Extension offers a variety of high-quality continuing education and professional training taught by industry experts and leading Silicon Valley professionals. Our courses and programs reflect the latest innovations, market trends, best practices and current industry tools. Extension offers more than 2,000 courses each year, producing over 18,000 enrollments in 44 disciplines, including Engineering & Technology, Business & Management, Applied & Natural Sciences, professional Education, and college preparation. Courses are offered six days and five evenings per week, and online 365 days per year.
UCSC Extension is accredited through the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Colleges and Universities (WASC). The University of California reviews and approves UCSC Extension courses and programs for academic content, merit and instructor qualifications. Many of our courses may be applied toward degree programs, or may be eligible for professional certificates and licenses. Involves serving as technical administrator for hardware, operating systems, and enterprise application management. Also includes managing the UNEX domain, DNS, enterprise application updates and testing, backup services, and virtualization.

Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Ability to elicit and communicate technical and non-technical information in a clear and concise manner.
Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Demonstrates problem-solving skills. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines.
Basic knowledge of how to apply technologies and systems to meet business needs.
Ability to write technical documentation in a clear and concise manner.
