Motivated and enthusiastic, s / he is currently (or within the past 6 months) serving as a principal or senior analyst for a VC firm in Silicon Valley and has an established network of entrepreneurs and other investors in the Bay Area. Primary Responsibilities:Perform market research to identify digital health investment trends and opportunities in coordination with the Principals in the Optum Ventures Boston office Deal sourcing Deal screening. Call and meet with prospects, evaluate opportunities Network with peers in other VC firms Document in CRM call summaries, notes and deals Deal support / analysis / quant / legal for deals under consideration Participate in digital health meet - ups, alumni and community events with start - ups such as Rock Health, VLAB, Startup Grind, SV Forum, SV Entrepreneurs etc. Perform Due Diligence Gather information from the target company and industry experts Research and speak with existing references and customers of the target company Research potential competitors to the target company Identify Optum business lines that may have interest Conduct background checks on current management of target company Performa valuation analysis via modeling Help prepare internal investment memos Support for Portfolio companies support & analysis Portfolio company community building With the Boston Principals, develop the OV Benefit Bundle that distinguishes Optum from other CVC's and oversee access to those benefits once a company is signed Industry reviews VC firm policy or fund analysis Represent Optum Ventures at key events on the west coast Alumni activities Serve in Board Observer role(s) as appropriate
Required Qualifications:Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience 1+ years of investment experience in SV (VC / PE) Outstanding analytical skills, detail oriented, pro - active, self - motivated Strong knowledge of Excel Experience with cash flow modeling and investment valuation techniques Ability to produce well - designed professional PowerPoint presentations Strong written and verbal skillsPreferred Qualifications:MBA from a top business schoolCareers with Optum.
