The Michigan Center for Human Athletic Medicine and Performance (MCHAMP) and Comprehensive Musculoskeletal Center (CMC) are seeking a creative and experienced marketing and communications specialist to manage all related activities for both centers.
This position is accountable for developing and executing effective strategic marketing and communications plans with the aim of reaching a wide and diverse community of patients, clinicians, researchers, affiliated organizations and various other key stakeholders.
It is an exciting time to join the MCHAMP/CMC team, as the successful candidate will play a critical role in the foundational design and execution of the overall marketing and communications strategy for both centers and become part of a positive, integrated and growing team.

Marketing Campaign Strategic Planning and Execution (40%)
Conduct market research to analyze consumer trends, habits and requirements.
Develop a creative marketing plan, inclusive of objectives from a broad range of key stakeholders.
Design and execute a holistic marketing campaign for the CMC and MCHAMP. Compose and maintain a comprehensive project management plan and create all related content.
Create lead generation programs, including development of digital channels.
Communicate regular status updates to MCHAMP and CMC leadership, highlighting Key Performance Indicators including consumer trends, best practices and opportunities for improvement.
Uphold fiduciary responsibility to the university by monitoring and reconciling expenses made on behalf of all marketing/communications activities.
Media Development and Maintenance (25%)
Utilizing Drupal and in concert with UMHS guidelines, design and proactively maintain center websites and content on all pertinent digital media platforms. Create websites to function in a manner that is visually appealing, user-friendly and clearly navigable.
Develop and write print publications, including newsletters, brochures, guides, etc.
Facilitate creation of technical content from subject matter experts in orthopaedic surgery and other relevant specialties and fields
Relationship Management (15%)
Under the direction of senior leadership, serve as a liaison for MCHAMP and the CMC, and act as the point-of-contact for center events (i.e. symposia, seminars, conferences, retreats, etc.)
Advance partnerships and communication with clinicians, researchers and affiliated organizations
Collaborate with individuals within Michigan Medicine’s Department of Communication, particularly for institutional positioning, referring provider and brand management initiatives
Plan and execute all facets of center events, including scheduling and logistical coordination, advertising, event staffing, catering, etc.
Communications/Presentation Preparation (10%)
Develop a toolkit of resources accessible to center faculty (i.e. presentation templates, event advertisements, image galleries, etc.) to promote a cohesive brand across internal/external audiences.
Draft letters and other communications on behalf of center leadership for internal and external stakeholders.
Other Projects as Assigned (10%)
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations or other related field
Proven communications and marketing professional with progressive responsibility.
Strong analytical, writing and editing skills, as demonstrated through work samples.
Familiarity and facileness with Drupal.
At least three to five years of experience in marketing/communications roles.
Proactive and highly organized with attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with individuals at all levels within & outside the organization.Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and independently make decisions to advance initiatives.
Ability to handle multiple projects at one time, and flexibility to change focus and priorities.
Experience with desktop publishing and photography programs, including InDesign and Photoshop.
Experience with website design and navigation.
Knowledge of trends in branding and brand establishment.
Experience with the effective use of social media to communicate to various audiences.
Flexibility in working hours to accommodate project deliverables and deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
Demonstrated commitment to customer service excellence.
Knowledge of Michigan Medicine policies, procedures and computing systems.
Previous experience in health care marketing.
Previous experience in developing start-up entities.
Project management experience.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and other computer systems.
Experience working within a large, complex healthcare setting.
