The Chief of Staff serves as the trusted voice and advisor to help the Chief of Operations determine, articulate and execute the business vision, mission, strategies and tactics to drive growth, customer satisfaction, quality, innovation and relationships. The Chief of Staff proactively assumes responsibility for leading and executing on strategic initiatives and projects, responding to requests, and serving as a key contact for the Chief of Operations and the senior operations team. Primary Responsibilities:Business and Strategic PlanningSupports development of the Long Range Plan and annual business plans in conjunction with the Chief of Operations and senior leadership team, providing insight and recommendations and ensuring alignmentTracks progress against plan, identifies any deviations and suggests plans to remediate; provides reports and analysis as required1/1 Readiness Coordination Coordinates all aspects of readiness for peak season, including staffing, client readiness, and systems readiness. Tracks progress against plan, identifies any deviations and suggests plans to remediate; provides reports and analysis as requiredCapital PlanningCoordinates development of the capital plan in conjunction with the Chief of Operations and senior leadership team, providing insight and recommendations and ensuring alignment. Facilitates reviews and recommends adjustments as neededVendor ManagementAlign with Optum Vendor Management Office to assess and monitor vendor strategy, engagement, compliance, and overall performanceReal EstateWorking with internal partners, coordinates facility planning which optimizes customer access, capacity utilization, labor market access, and cost Business Continuity CoordinationEngages with enterprise resources to ensure coordination of emergency response and business continuity processes for OptumRx Operations. Post-event, leads debrief to evaluate effectiveness and makes recommendations to improve programsEmergency CommunicationsIdentifies and coordinates stakeholders and activates communications in the event of a business interruption to support continuity of care for our customersSite Visit CoordinationDevelops and maintains site visit plan for Operations leadership team, ensuring contact with leadership and employees at each site and feedback loops to site leader and operations leadership team to support engagement focus Communications PlanningCoordinates with Internal Communications to plan, evaluate and adjust impact, reach and frequency of communications to operations employeesInternal Project ManagementPrepares and coordinates resources and materials for critical meetingsManages the agenda, material preparation and follow-up for operations leadership staff meetings, deep dives, and other meetings upon requestAnticipates, manages preparation for, and, when appropriate facilitates meetings and events on behalf of the Chief of Operations, ensuring adherence to deadlinesDevelops consistency with regard to presentations, external correspondence, staff meetings, etc. Assists in ensuring meeting agendas represent the key initiatives and the overall priorities of the business
Required Qualifications:B.A. / B.S. 10 years of experience in a leadership rolePreferred Qualifications:Advanced degree Soft Skills:Solid understanding of operations, reporting and forecastingStrong analytical skillsAbility to quickly aggregate and analyze information and draw conclusionsCustomer-focusedStrong communicator; capable of effectively presenting ideas and selling concepts and tacticsStrong change management and influencing skillsAbility to build relationships cross-functionally and lead toward common goalsAbility to drive change and influence at all levels of the organization Self-starter who acts independently and directs own workStrong project management skills; demonstrated history of managing significant and complex projectsCareers with Optum.
