You will be accountable for database administration, design, build and tuning of mission critical Oracle environments as a member of the Database Services Oracle team for our Fortune 10 company. Primary responsibilities for the role include: Implementation and Configuration of Oracle databases Implementation of HA solutions and definition of Backup/Recovery strategyDefine Oracle technical infrastructure environment Define and document standards and guidelinesAutomate repeatable tasksDesign, implement and maintain all functions of database systems, including access, methods and time, device allocations, validation checks, organization, security, documentation and statistical methodologyAssist in design, test, implementation, maintenance and control of physical and relational databasesConsult with users; determine requirements and recommend database establishment and utilizationConsult with Systems Analysts and designers on procedures related to new or existing databasesAssist in development of systems and procedures affecting database management, design and maintenanceEstablish and maintain databases for user testing and production Evaluate, test and produce recommendations for the selection, use and deployment of DBMS software, data management tools and utilities, data warehouse and replication toolsSupport problem resolutionConsult and advise in application design and tuningPlan, organize and execute product benchmarks for threshold and functionalityProvide support for the development and maintenance of production and non-production database environments for distributed applicationsParticipate in product evaluations, design review sessions, data requirement meetings and consulting with application development teamsPerformance and TuningProduction supportDefine the complete technical infrastructure environmentReview ongoing and proposed projects to identify opportunities for reuse and process improvement Review project deliverables for completeness, quality, and compliance with established project standards Document and communicate the status of progress against plans, taking corrective action as necessary Identify, clarify, and resolve project activity issues and risks, escalating them as needed Review technical documentation to verify compliance with client requirements and established architectural standards and guidelinesParticipate in rotational 24x7 oncall support
Required Experiences/Skills: 5 + years of Oracle RDBMS database administration experienceExperience with Oracle v11 or higher 5 + years of production support or technology administration supporting internal systems3 + years of UNIX/LINUX background3 + years of experience with UNIX Korn ShellUnderstanding of the SDLC and business processesProven analytic, problem solving and fact finding skillsDemonstrated diagnostic skillsStrong judgment Track record of success working effectively with others Willingness to share knowledge to ensure team successWell-developed written and verbal communication skillsBachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent experiencesWilling and able to participate in 24x7 on call rotation Desired Experiences/Skills: Oracle certification(s)MySQL experienceTSM backup environment experienceProfessional experience in the health care industry Technology Careers with Optum.
