About the Position: The Vanderbilt University School of Engineering is currently in search of a Senior Facilities Manager. This position will report directly to the Chief Business Officer of the school and is responsible for managing the day to day facilities operations. The individual will be responsible for construction project management and maintenance of equipment, machinery, VUSE lab and building safety, buildings and other facilities, annual space surveys, and deferred maintenance planning as well as other tasks assigned. This position will provide supervision, management, to the other building managers and will work with the University's plant operations to make sure that buildings are serviced and that custodial staff perform the regular cleaning. This is a full-time position. Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. However, the position requires overnight on-call duty and the ability to work during nonstandard hours when the need arises. Vanderbilt was recently ranked #1 in the Princeton Review among 382 top colleges and universities for ‘happiest students’ - as well as #2 for ‘best quality of life’ and ‘great financial aid,’ #5 for ‘best run colleges’ and ‘beautiful campus,’ and #6 for both being in a ‘college city that students love’ and having ‘great campus/city relations.’ Duties and Responsibilities: Manage all VUSE Facilities Managers and student employees for VUSE Primary Liaison with VU's Plant Operations unit to make sure that all service and repairs happen on a timely basis as VUSE has temperature and humidity sensitive equipment Develop and implement: Facility and space management programs Financial and statistical models Forecast for operational and strategic space planning Manage and delegate the daily operational requirements for specific facilities; coordinate data collection with departments on use, availability and assignment Plan, develop, and prepare detailed technical documents for facility and space related projects Recommend, implement and monitor policy and procedures for space management: Ensure facility use is in compliance with established guidelines Utility consumption data, space utilization information, and revenue Expenditure rations for budget control and planning Building and Laboratory Safety Monitor and coordinate with appropriate departments: All renovations Construction Environmental services Preventative and periodic maintenance Building security Plant operations and other services Removal of surplus materials Liaison for events Liaison with Dining over food services (e.g. Suzie's Café) Insurance Liaison for the School – Facilitate repair/replacement of equipment due to damages Ensure operation and cleaning of all buildings meet the VU and VUSE standards Works with the Senior Associate Dean and VUIT Faculty Liaison with respect to classroom technology upgrades and issues Credentials/Access Manager – assigning/removing access permissions to classrooms, labs, office spaces, and buildings. Oversee key/access for all new hires and current hires within VUSE Oversee emergency preparedness and lab safety for the school in conjunction with the Deans Office.
