The Certified Diabetic Educator (Health Educator 3) provides program support of educational programs and administrative assistance to staff and physicians in the Maternal Fetal Medicine Division (MFM). The CDE works with multiple departments and divisions located at the UC Davis Health Ob/Gyn Maternal Fetal Medicine Center sites. This position will be responsible for teaching basic diabetic introductory classes for pregnant patients; diabetic program planning, development and organizational support for educational activities of the program for patients and providers; administrative support for program communication and outreach activities; assistance with preparation of grant and proposal materials; and data collection and evaluation of teaching programs and overall program (CDE) outcomes.REQUIRED- Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) certification / NCBDE.- Proficiency with electronic medical record systems and databases.- Demonstrated skill and ability to utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Publisher; Outlook, Epic. - Demonstrated experience with website development and maintenance.- Demonstrated proficiency in writing, proofreading, editing and document formatting skills.- Demonstrated knowledge of marketing principles such as design and layout skills to produce professional looking flyers, posters, web pages, etc. for public and health system dissemination.- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.PREFERRED - Professional background in Health Education.SPECIAL REQUIREMENT - THIS POSITION MAY BE SUBJECT TO A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION, DRUG SCREEN, LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINTING, MEDICAL EVALUATION CLEARANCE, AND FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY ASSESSMENT.- Must be able to travel to Primary Care Network clinics located in the greater Sacramento region and work weekends, evenings and occasional overtime when needed. - Valid California Driver's License required.
