The successful candidate will perform a variety of tasks; be an advisor on technical issues; proactively make recommendations for improved performance and efficiencies; and regularly report on usage, performance and capacity. Primary Responsibilities:Support of Backup and Recovery as well as Disaster Recovery associated with Database Management of a 400+ Terabyte Teradata V15.10 Enterprise environment with 2000+ usersAdminister and maintain our corporate data warehouse environmentOperational support of Teradata infra-structure including the BAR environment, support of the Teradata software (DBMS, TTU and Data Domain backup environment with DSA) and resolving database performance, database capacity and other data issuesSupport multiple Teradata systems including the enterprise data warehouse, data marts, development, test, disaster recovery, and productionManage/Monitor system performance, including workload management and throttling using TASM, query performance and tuning, physical node behavior, and amp distributionConsult on physical database implementationsWork with Teradata GSC in resolving hardware/software related incidentsImplement and administer access policies in conjunction with corporate standardsParticipate in security audit process and proceduresManage, design, support, and consult on practices of storage management, archive, restore, and disaster recoveryActively participate in all phases of project development life cycle including database policies, procedures, standards and supporting documentation, database design, process flow analysis, development, benchmark analysis, performance/tuning, capacity planning, and production implementationProduction support responsibilities include maximizing system availability, ensuring swift and complete database recovery, optimizing database availability through ongoing maintenance, and ensure conformance to audit and operating standardsProvide status reports to senior managementParticipate in the evaluation and recommendation of appropriate hardware and software resources for supportability of the Business requirementsAssisting with communication interfaces/integration to associated systems (i.e. Interfacing with ETL environments) Upholds enterprise policy guidelines and recommends new and improved guidelines
Required Qualifications:Undergraduate degree or equivalent experienceTeradata System DBA having 6-10 year experience in system maintenance and DBA activitiesPreferred Qualifications:Experience with HADR in a Teradata environment using Unity and Data MoverExperience with Query GridExperience with Datastage as an ETL toolHealthcare Industry experience Microsoft Office tools (i.e. PowerPoint, Excel, Visio and Project)Technology Careers with Optum.
