The Associate Financial Analyst, in collaboration with the Finance Manager, is responsible for supporting the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management, the Hotel School and the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business Central Departments with reporting, analysis, budgeting and transactional activities for all compensation.
As a key member of the finance team, participate in the annual budget, forecast, and year-end close activities. Maintain current and develop new financial models as needed to provide reporting on monthly and quarterly budget to actuals and trends to key constituents. Serve as the primary Compensation Finance Partner in Workday ensuring timely and accurate costing of salary and other compensation payments. Provide backup and support to fellow team members as necessary to meet departmental demands and deadlines.
The Associate Financial Analyst will stay current in Cornell University policies and procedures related to finance and HR; participate in trainings through the Division of Financial Affairs (DFA), the College and various other resources available. This position requires strong communication and collaboration with leadership, budget owners, and business partners to plan and execute activities. Strict confidentially and ethical judgment is critical at all times.
Position will be based in the new Breazzano Family Center for Business Education, located in Collegetown.

Associate's degree; technical/ vocational school degree or equivalent; more than 2 years or equivalent but less than 3 years or equivalent of experience.
Must be able to compile, analyze, and report on moderately complex data verbally and in writing.
Strong accounting, analytical and reporting skills, which includes demonstrated experience utilizing spreadsheets and databases.
Excellent customer service skills and demonstrated ability to communicate and work with a broad range of constituents.
Ability to be flexible and multi-task in a high-paced team environment and meet deadlines.
Must be able to work both independently and in team environments – both in leading and individual contributor roles – using judgment to escalate matters to management as necessary to resolve.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and maintain confidentiality and discretion.
Attention to detail, organizational skills and prioritization skills are required.
Able to work quickly & effectively under pressure, use judgement in accomplishing tasks, balance conflicting priorities, and make decisions from a range of choices.
Must be flexible, adaptable, and comfortable working and contributing in an environment where change in process/procedures is the norm while maintaining a positive and productive demeanor.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Excel and Word as well as financial and data management systems.
Must be willing and able to enhance personal knowledge, skills, and abilities to grow and excel in the field
Bachelor's degree in Finance or equivalent; at least 3 years but less than 5 years of experience or equivalent.
Experience with human resources and compensation processed, policies and laws.
Experience in Workday, Kuali Financial Systems (KFS), OBIEE dashboards and OBIEE Answers.
Familiarity with Cornell University or other higher education environment.
Understanding of Cornell policies and procedures related to financial processing and management.
