The Histology Technician position requires someone who can perform all essential histology and complex immunohistochemistry procedures. The individual will be expected to work as part of a team to perform grossing, processing, embedding, sectioning, special stains, and other routine lab tasks. The ability to follow established protocols to perform basic and advanced immunohistochemistry is necessary. This position also requires working collaboratively with researchers and accessioning jobs upon receipt to ensure a timely turnaround. Lab equipment must be maintained by following scheduled maintenance guidelines and contacting appropriate personnel for any repairs that are needed. The incumbent is expected to follow good laboratory practices, including maintaining a thorough and complete lab notebook, following lab cleanliness guidelines, and troubleshooting as needed. This position will be responsible for compliance with regulatory training and environment, health, and safety requirements.
