The University of Wyoming (UW), Division of Social Work, invites applications for the position of Director with a start date of August, 2018. The position will be filled at the Associate or Professor rank. This position is a full-time, 12-month appointment. We are seeking a Director who is committed to continuing our tradition of excellence in educating new social workers, contributing to the science, research, and practice of social work, and serving the University of Wyoming, the social work community, and the people in the frontier state of Wyoming.
The Division of Social Work, housed within the College of Health Sciences, has a strong record of research and scholarship including collaborative research with governmental organizations and other UW departments. The Division offers a Generalist BSW program and an Advanced Generalist MSW program enrolling approximately 80 undergraduate and 60 graduate students. The University and the Division of Social Work maintain outreach centers across Wyoming providing excellent opportunities for community practice and research. The MSW program uses the UW Distance Education Network to deliver portions of the curriculum statewide.

Position responsibilities: The Director of Social Work has administrative and academic responsibilities for all faculty, staff, and facilities in the Division and reports directly to the Dean of the College of Health Sciences. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, administering the academic programs, representing and advocating for the Division within the University and communities of Wyoming, mentoring faculty, managing the budget, preparing internal and external reports that include strategic planning, and teaching and conducting research.
Required qualifications: Earned doctorate in social work or closely related field or interdisciplinary fields; MSW from a CSWE accredited program; evidence of leadership accomplishments; at least four years of post-MSW practice experience; prior academic administrative experience at the university level; a strong record of teaching and scholarship to warrant tenure and appointment at the associate or professor rank; and strong interpersonal skills with evidence of effectively communicating with students, faculty, and constituencies.
Preferred qualifications: Experience in a generalist/advanced generalist social work program; strong background and commitment to interprofessional education; experience in a rural setting; experience using distance education technology; service at the national level with CSWE or similar organization; and experience with and/or knowledge of CSWE accreditation standards and processes.
