Contact Insurance companies to obtain per-certification and pre-authorization of tests and medication requests by medical providers. Must have knowledge of the myriad payers and their preferred method of contact, whether it be by phone, fax, or web. Check Automated Insurance Manual (AIM) for precert guidelines. Check insurance websites and/or call insurance companies for changes in guidelines. Check RevRunner to verify eligibility and coverage and determine which MCO the patient belong in. Must be timely in order to meet appointment deadlines.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to multi-task and stay organized in a fast-paced environment are also required. Knowledge of the insurance authorization process, customer service skills.
