And you'll do your life's best work.(sm) As the UHC Concept Research Manager, you will be responsible for 25+ analysts who are accountable for developing new medical cost savings opportunities on the OPI Research and Development Team. The position involves oversight of the UHC Payment Integrity Team to ensure the team is operating most efficiently to meet the increased targets, continuous coordination with matrix partners to confirm processes and handoffs are in place to execute savings delivery to our partners and client. In addition, this role supports the Commercial Savings Targets by developing concepts which become a part of the commercial library of concepts for development. You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. Primary Responsibilities:Manage an elite team to identify, interpret and analyze data recommending best approaches to solution concepts Collaborate and build strong matrixed relationships with our clients and partners to continually improve our processes to drive measurable results, providing timely and meaningful client updates Prepare written analysis and summaries of our team outcomes using graphical representations and professional formatting for presentation to our clients and partners Leverage technology and carry out process improvement activities Recommend changes to current product development procedures based on market research and new trends Be an independent, innovative leader
Required Qualifications:BA / BS degree or equivalent experience 2+ years of experience managing a team and prioritizing work on multiple complex assignments with ongoing deadlines 3+ years experience billing, coding, and auditing claims 3+ years of experience identifying, analyzing, and effectively communicating trends in highly complex data Maintains working knowledge of CMS rules and regulations and knowledge of procedure and diagnosis codes (CPT, ICD - 9 / 10 coding, HCPCS and DRGs) Strong computer skills: Access, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint. Specifically, an advanced level of proficiency working with MS Excel including formulas, pivot tables, charts / graphs for data analysis and presentation Highly collaborative and consultative style with ability to establish credibility quickly with all levels of management across multiple functional areas Self-managed, self - starter with the ability to prioritize and support multiple concurrent projects and meet tight delivery timelines Strong project management approach with excellent critical thinking and problem solving skillsPreferred Qualifications: Advanced degree in health care or medical field Coding certification through AAPC or AHIMA Experience in the health care industry (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial) with deep exposure to Payment Integrity Experience working in a matrix and highly adaptive environment handling tight deadlines Understanding of SAS programming and SQL coding Ability to approach issues from broad strategic perspective while also focusing on the details Strong facilitation, critical thinking, problem solving, decision making and analytical skills Exceptional verbal and written presentation, communication and negotiation skillsCareers with Optum.
