<p>Position Overview<br />This is a full-time twelve-month, annually renewable academic staff appointment in Career & Internship Services (CIS) reporting to the Director of Career & Internship Services. The incumbent of this position will provide individual career coaching for students interested in business, agriculture and animal science opportunities; will coordinate internal and external communications for the center and will participate within a team-based environment in the delivery of CIS initiatives. <br /><br />Responsibilities:<br /><br />Career Coaching– 35%<br />• Provide individual career coaching for undergraduate and graduate students in majors related to business, agriculture and animal science including career exploration, job and internship search and graduate school planning.<br />• Build rapport with students through outreach to classes and student organization to acquaint them with CIS resources and encourage their engagement in career planning.<br />• Establish and sustain relationships with faculty and staff to collaborate in development of comprehensive career education plan, to support departmental efforts, to stay abreast of industry trends and receive feedback to inform priorities.<br />• Collaborate with Employer Relations Manager to identify and develop relationships with employers to build recruitment opportunities and to increase quality and quantity of internship and employment opportunities.<br /><br />Marketing & Communications – 40%<br />• Develop and implement a communication strategy that encourages students to participate in CIS events and programs and utilize resources. Develop timelines and oversee implementation of the plan. Ensure faculty and staff are included in relevant communication outreach to augment CIS messaging and encourage collaboration and referrals.<br />• Lead development and maintenance of CIS website to provide timely information about events and current resources. Review the site regularly to ensure content is updated. Oversee usability testing of site as needed.<br />• Coordinate production and distribution of promotional materials including posters, flyers, and brochures.<br />• Identify methods for communicating career development and career readiness messages in order to encourage students to engage in proactive, healthy and effective career preparation.<br />• Collaborate with communications staff in partner colleges and the Office of Student Affairs to communicate opportunities and messages to students.<br />• Support employer communication efforts in collaboration with Employer Relations Manager including publications, newsletters or direct mailing.<br />• Co-supervise student staff supporting graphic design and communications work along with the CIS Office Manager.<br />• Oversee editing and updating of selected handouts for the office resource library.<br />• Produce regular newsletters to inform students of resources and events. Produce annual newsletters for faculty and parents.<br />• Provide back-up support to peer staff in absence of the Office Manager.<br /><br />Course instruction – 20%<br />• Teach one section of one the Career and Internship Preparation course each year following curriculum provided.<br />• Provide prompt, consistent grading and feedback to enhance students’ understanding of career theory and practices.<br /><br />Professional Development – 5%<br />• Participate in meetings, conferences and events to develop and expand professional skills and update knowledge of best practices within the field of career development and higher education.<br /> </p>
<p>Required qualifications<br />• Master’s degree<br />• One year of experience of coaching or counseling on career preparation or development.<br />• Experience providing instruction on career development topics through courses or workshops.<br />• Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences.<br />• Experience developing and implementing communication plans including systems and timelines and producing print and online resources.<br />• Proven experience delivering results through collaborative relationships with partners<br />• Ability to establish rapport across functional boundaries with students, faculty, employers and colleagues.<br />• Excellent professional written and oral presentation skills<br />• Must be flexible, collaborative, detail-oriented and organized.<br />• Demonstrated evidence of commitment to promoting a culture that respects and advances diversity and inclusion.<br />• Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends.<br /><br />Desired qualifications<br />• Masters degree in career development, counseling, student personnel or closely related field.<br />• Experience providing individual career planning services to students within higher education. <br />• Experience teaching credit-bearing college-level career coursework.<br />• Exposure to business, agriculture or animal industries.<br />• Familiarity with career development theories and practices, assessments. counseling and services.</p>
