Bucknell University seeks applications for an experienced professional to serve as the Associate Director, Leadership Gifts. This new position was created as part of the department restructuring and will serve as a senior member of Bucknell's centralized leadership gifts team within the division of Development and Alumni Relations. The Associate Director will be responsible for maximizing major gifts to the institution through personal solicitations and stewardship, as well as through the supervision and coaching of several talented gift officers in coordination with identified fundraising priorities and metrics.

The Associate Director will report directly to the Executive Director, Leadership Gifts and Constituent Fundraising, and work closely with DAR and University departments to coordinate, strategize, and secure major gifts in support of institutional fundraising priorities. The Associate Director also has an opportunity to interact with University administrators, college deans, athletics administrators, coaches, faculty, and staff to aid in overall fundraising programs. To be qualified for this exciting opportunity, you must have earned a bachelor's degree and have a minimum of seven years of progressively more responsible fundraising experience, at least four of which must include success in consistently closing gifts of $50k or more. Direct supervisory experience or demonstrated experience coaching and mentoring colleagues to increased performance is essential. You must have a track record of successfully building partnerships with a wide range of organizational stakeholders and possess superior written and oral communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to articulate a compelling case for philanthropic support programs. The demonstrated ability to use metrics to drive performance is required along with practical application and experience with technology such as database functions/reports and MS Office products. Due to the nature of the position, a willingness to travel extensively and a valid U.S. driver's license is also required. Preferred qualifications include ten years of leadership and successful fundraising experience with a successful track record of closing major gifts in a higher education setting, comprehensive campaign experience, demonstrated experience with recruiting, training and motivating volunteers, working knowledge in the field of gift planning of complex assets, gift vehicles offered by the University, federal and state tax considerations surrounding charitable giving, and the financial considerations involved in administering planned gifts, practical experience working with donor prospects in the areas of finance and management and possessing an understanding of the work in which these prospects are engaged--corporate finance, asset management, private equity, investment banking, etc.
