ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to: Associate Dean of Students Supervises: Part-time staff and student employees
Summary of Position: The Director of Accessibility Services serves as an integral part of Student Access and Support Services (SASS). This individual is responsible for directing the delivery of accommodations and support services to students with a range of disabilities, both in and outside the classroom. This position plays a pivotal role in providing integration of students with disabilities into the Mills College community. SASS provides a wide range of legally and professional required services to students with accommodations. Over 35% of the Mills student community utilized these services ranging from note-taking and readers and adaptive technology support to testing coordination. This is a high volume, high intensity position that requires daily interactions with students who may feel distressed.
Essential Job Functions:
Function as a resource expert in disability as it relates to a students education and access.
Manages and maintains a caseload of students. Determines appropriate academic accommodations and auxiliary services based on provided medical documentation
Lead the Divisional efforts to build relationships with students and faculty to ensure we are meeting the needs of our campus community
Direct all accommodation needs with faculty and Mills staff when accommodations issues arise and manage the conflict resolution process between students and faculty
Provide training for the Mills Community on ADA principles and best practices for accommodations.
Provide support services to ensure the academic success, retention, and graduation of students with disabilities
Supervise the scheduling and coordination related to students and faculty in order to set up exam accommodations.
Manage test proctoring system and accommodation related Testing Center
Oversee the Emotional Support Animal and Service Animal process and work closely with Housing and Dining Services to ensure students, their animals, and the campus communities needs are meet.
Direct the note taker/reader/scribe employees through the hiring and supervision
Purchase and track utilization of adaptive and assistive technology in collaboration with Associate Dean
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
Track accommodation expenses and reconcile monthly budgets
Participate in the Mills CARE team, and other committees as required.
Support the mission and goals of the Division of Student Life including some evening or weekend work during peak times of the year
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of:

Understanding of all the components of auxiliary services including alternative formats and accessible technology

Education and Training:
Bachelors degree AND 3+ years of experience in a similar setting, Masters degree preferred.
Experience working with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 as it relates to academic services in higher education.
Experience with evaluating disability documentation, including psychoeducational, psychological and medical evaluations.
Experience working with disability services in education or applicable area.
Physical, Mental and Environmental Demands:
Work primarily involves sitting for long hours and using office equipment.
The incumbent may spend hours on the computer entering data which requires attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
Work often requires bending to adjust or work with office equipment.
The incumbent will be located in a busy, open office area. Interruptions and meeting with a variety of people will be required on a regular basis.

This is a full-time exempt position. Salary is commensurate with experience, ranging from $55,000.00 to $58,000.00 per year, and includes an excellent benefits package including medical/dental/vision/life/LTD insurance/403(b) retirement plan, 22 days of vacation, 12 sick days and 10 paid holidays annually. Staff members also receive free admission to campus events, use of the pool, fitness center, and tennis courts. Tuition remission is also available after an introductory period. Pet insurance, long-term care insurance and legal-assistance insurance are available as voluntary benefits.
