The George Mason University Early Identification Program (EIP) is searching for a Program Coordinator.
Responsibilities: The incumbent will co-coordinate the Academic Mentoring Program (AMP); monitor students' academic progress and participation; assist the Director in the coordination of other EIP program components; and assist with overall EIP administration. Specific responsibilities include:
Co-coordinate and provide supervision to Academic Mentors who provide both mentoring and academic support to college-bound first-generation students;
Assist in the advising of middle and high school program participants;
Assist in the planning and coordinating of EIP events, including weekend events, parent meetings and special workshops;
Coordinate and staff the STEM Power Aid, a math, science, and STEM enrichment program;
Assist in the maintenance of EIP's student database;
Coordinate managing student counts, course schedules, and rosters; serve as liaison between EIP and lunch vendor in communication of lunch menu.
Assist with the overall administration of the EIP program as assigned.
Strong communication skills;
Excellent organizational skills;
A college degree in a related field, which will enhance the ability to serve students and contribute to programmatic functions (candidates with an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of the college degree requirement);
Experience working with diverse middle and high school student populations;
Knowledge and understanding of college access, student success, and issues that affect first-generation college-bound students;
Ability and desire to serve as a strong advocate for students and families;
Excellent administrative and organizational skills, including public relations, programming and event planning;
Availability to work some evenings and Saturdays; and
Experience supervising student workers.
Strong communication and writing skills;
An ability to work collaboratively and effectively;
Knowledge of university and school policies and regulations is helpful;
Knowledge of Spanish language (desired); and
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
Salary: $38,000-$44,000, commensurate with education and experience.
