Service duties will include such things as: assist in coordinating the introductory courses, assist in coordinating our Learning Assistant program, develop and enhance labs, participate in curriculum development, assist with program assessment, act as faculty mentor for the student Physics club and Astronomy club, and oversee the peer mentoring program. Successful candidates will also be expected to participate in professional development to stay current in their content area and in evidence-based instructional approaches. A PhD in Physics or a related field is preferred, but candidates with Masters degrees will also be considered.
Lecturers are 10 month positions, and successful candidates will teach a total of 24 load hours over two semesters, with the option to teach overload / Winter term and the possibility of teaching Summer classes. While these are non-tenure track positions, they are renewable, with expectations for continuing renewal of two, three, four, and then five years per contract. In addition, the position has a promotion path to Senior Lecturer and Master Lecturer, and includes benefits.
