Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Financial Analyst for the Financial Services Department at the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. The primary purpose of the Financial Analyst is the day-to-day administration of unrestricted budget and expenditures. Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Coordinates with Finance staff to accomplish accounting functions, prepares concise and timely monthly/quarterly reports for all assigned areas in accordance with Rutgers and Cancer Institute of New Jersey's management to assess its overall financial standing, along with meeting the needs of the faculties and servicing their divisions.
Provides research, analysis and organization of unrestricted budgets and expenditures.
Analyzes, reports and maintains all personnel reporting and action forms for unrestricted funds.
Prepares P&L statements, productivity and budget status reports for CINJ units. (e.g. clinical divisions, service departments, faculty level, etc.)
Assists in developing business plans for new faculty programs.
Formulates projections and budget development, as directed by the Business Manager.
Analyzes the Universities financial and system hierarchy reports for departmental and employee classification and management reporting.
Reviews expenditure requests for unrestricted funding sources and approves requests, when available funding exists and information system coding is correct.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, plus three (3) years of related experience in related fiscal activities.
Experience in preparing full P&L statements.
Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirements.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge and experience with journal entries, financial statement preparation and general accounting concepts are also required.
Demonstrated strong verbal and written communications, analytical abilities.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
Advanced skill level in Excel.
Experience in healthcare industry (e.g. physician practice or hospital).
