As a member of the College of Human Ecology, will work closely with all departments/units to complete transaction activities such as salary transfers, new account set ups, budget adjustments, general error corrections and disbursement of income/expense.
Participate in the development and/or implementation of reengineering efforts, strategies and efficient processes to improve services. Build solid relationships with University financial accounting offices, CALS/CHE BSC, department Managers and College Deans and Directors to collaboratively resolve problems while ensuring adherence to university policies. Serve as an expert regarding University policies and procedures to create a supportive, collaborating, service-minded team. This includes understanding the needs of the client, providing clear policy interpretation, and providing guidance and recommendations regarding financial activities.
Formal training beyond a HS Diploma of 1 to 2 years; 2 years college coursework or Associates Degree; more than 4 years and less than 6 years experience or equivalent combination. Experience with computer applications MS Excel, MS Word, MS Access, etc. Must have excellent customer service skills and demonstrated ability to communicate with a broad range of people. Attention to detail and organizational skills are critical. Must be able to work quickly, effectively under pressure, use judgment in accomplishing tasks that are urgent or of a sensitive or confidential nature; balance conflicting priorities and make decisions from a range of choices. Must be comfortable working in an environment where change in process/procedures is the norm.
Experience with Cornell financial policies and procedures. Experience with endowment and contract and grant accounts. Knowledge of Cornell on-line systems: KFS, Workday, Dashboard Reporting.
