University of Maryland Baltimore, Division of Cardiac Surgery is seeking a Research Project Coordinator. The Research Project Coordinator will coordinate clinical trials for Cardiac Surgery Division with PI's Nurse Practitioners', sponsors and academic institutions. The Research Project Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of research studies in the department. The position coordinates data maintenance, grant expenditure adherence, project evaluation, meeting scheduling, and research subject interfacing. Serves as a point of contact for sponsors, study participants, research personnel and support staff. Adheres to good clinical practices, study protocols, and applicable regulations. The Research Project Coordinator conducts complex work and contributes to measurable team objectives. Uses discretion to provide solutions to issues. Performs work that is varied and that does not follow prescribed procedures or processes and is responsible for effective operations and use of resources, rather than clinical outcomes.

Responsible for conducting clinical trials using good clinical practice under the supervision of the research manager and the principal investigator (PI).
Recruit, consent, follow-up with study subjects, collect specimen and draw blood.
Submit and review study protocols into the Institutional Review Board. Oversee and maintain all study regulatory documents.
Communicate closely with PI's, nurse practitioners, staff and study monitors. Ensure protocol compliance and completeness and accuracy of documentation through regular audits.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelors in Sociology, Psychology, Nursing or field study related to the research of the clinic.
Experience: Prior experience in clinical research strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Prior experience with CITI and HIPPA compliance
Proficient reading comprehension and writing skills including comprehension, expression and deductive reasoning
Strong medical terminology and information
Superior organization and critical thinking skills Interpersonal skills including active listening, coordination and problem solving
Hiring Range: Low to mid $40K - Commensurate with education and experience
