Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU) was founded as a 501(c) (3) non-profit medical institution in 2005 aimed at increasing access to health care in medically underserved areas of the Pacific Northwest.
The University currently offers the degree of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine enrolling a total of 560 medical students with plans to develop other programs and/or colleges. Interprofessional education partnerships with other universities adds another 100 students to the population. The campus includes 300 employees with academic programming spread over a five state region.
PNWU is located in Yakima, WA, a city of approximately 95,000 located in the south central part of the state near the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains in a major agricultural and outdoor recreation region. It is approximately 140 miles from Seattle, 170 miles from Portland, and 200 miles from Spokane. The Yakima Valley is a wonderful place to live, work and play.
General Summary: Serve as a senior advisor and confidant to the CEO as well as an advisor to the executive team on all human capital related matters helping to ensure that the university has the talent, processes/systems, and commitment necessary to grow and meet the mission.

Essential Job Functions:
*Help maintain a high-performance, highly engaged culture that is reinforced by HR practices and programs aligned to the mission.
*Build sustainable yet flexible processes that will enable the university to systematically and efficiently hire, onboard and train new employees.
*Provide leadership and counsel to the team on talent/workforce planning, change management, and other initiatives that support the growth and development of the university in existing and new programs.
*Continually assess the competitiveness of all programs and practices against relevant comparable universities, industries and markets.
*Develop innovative programs to identify, assess, recruit, develop, onboard and retain key talent at all levels.
*Lead an effective HR team that is able to scale with growth plans. The function should be viewed by all to be strategic, pragmatic, effective, and vital to the university's success.
*Personally connect with employees across the university, including spending time in the field and engaging with the workforce. Ensure that the president and management team have the “pulse of the university” in order to make proactive and impactful organization decisions.
*Help ensure that the university has the compensation and benefits strategy and programs, including those at the executive level, that will help motivate and lead to desired behaviors that are aligned with the university's strategy.
*Be connected in the Yakima Valley and beyond, bringing best practices to the university and always looking at continuous improvement opportunities.
*Be aware of evolving regulatory influences on management, policies, processes and practices. Ensure that the university is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
*Acts as legal liaison with attorneys and PNWU on matters involving employees or students.
*Acts as the Title IX Coordinator.
*Understands accreditation standards and expectations specific to the department and adheres to policies and procedures to meet or exceed such standards;
*Conduct appropriate and consistent with the philosophy and mission of PNWU;
*Other duties as assigned.
*Required: Bachelor's Degree, Master's Preferred
*Five years of related HR supervisory experience required. Additional education may be substituted for years of work experience.
*Five years of higher education work experience preferred.
