Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is seeking a motivated, independent, and hardworking individual for an opening as a Security Officer. The responsibilities of this individual would include guarding Laboratory property against fire, theft, and vandalism, as well as providing emergency assistance to laboratory staff and visitors. This individual would be acting as a representative of the laboratory’s administration outside of normal working hours, and maintaining a daily log of all activities and preparing incident reports to be turned in to the Security Director. This person would also be required to carry out other tasks as assigned to them by the Security Director.
The schedule for this opening is for the 8am- 4pm and 4pm-12am shifts, but candidates should be flexible.
Education: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Certifications: Must be licensed as a Security Guard by the state of New York, and be CPR and First Aid certified by the American Red Cross.
Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in security, emergency services, loss prevention, or law enforcement. Knowledge of physical locks, electronic access control, fire and burglary systems preferred.
Other: Must have a valid driver’s license. Excellent communication skills are a must.
