PeaceHealth is seeking a Chemical Dependency Counselor - Adult Day Health (Per Diem) for a per diem, Variable shift position.

Provide substance use assessments of patients. Provide clinical substance use consultation to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center (PHSW) caregivers. Provide patient education, information and referral services.
1. Provide consultations, assessments, information and referrals to patients as requested.
2. Provide treatment planning and discharge planning to community resources. Provide counseling in one-on-one or group sessions.
3. Performs other duties as assigned.
Associates degree or equivalent with college-level courses in Substance Use studies or advanced degree in counseling.
Bachelor's degree in behavioral sciences, social work, nursing or a related field preferred.
Minimum one year's experience working as a Chemical Dependency Counselor with adults who have co-occurring disorders.
Experience in an acute care setting (or equivalent education and/or experience).
Five years' experience working with persons with substance use disorders preferred.
WA State Counselor Agency Affiliated Registration (CG) (current or pending) licensure and chemical dependency counselor state certification credentials (i.e. OR State Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor I, II or III or other similar certification) or WA State Chemical Dependency Professional Certification (CDP) licensure or WA State Licensed Mental health Counselor with 3+ years of specific, documented experience in chemical dependency.
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers required upon hire.
Certified Peer Support Counselor preferred.
Strong oral and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to effectively conduct patient education individually and/or in group settings.
Must be self-directed with strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently or as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Strong analysis/problem solving skills.
Knowledge of substance use and general counseling.
SOUTHWEST PHYSICIAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS:
Work requires fairly light physical exertion from 34 to 65% of the time.
Ability to lift objects weighing 10 lbs. or less.
Work is performed under normal working conditions with adequate lighting and ventilation.
Duties require the ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail (more than 65% of work time).
