You are the key confidential aide to the VP of Development at the Seattle Symphony, assisting her in leading a team of 22 fundraising professionals to secure $10-20M in gifts and grants each year. You will work in a collaborative manner, coordinating the function and welfare of the office of the VP.
You are a self-starter, able to resolve complex problems independently, and perform advanced tasks without close supervision. However, you are not afraid to ask for help and know when to call in your colleagues to support you.
Essential Job Functions:
Provide key support for the VP's responsibilities and activities both internal and externally focused
Assist the VP in identification, research, strategy and stewardship of major individual, corporate and foundation donors
Provides strategic support and organization to the VP in handling her portfolio of major donors including but not limited to: generating ask letters, acknowledgement letters, booking gifts, and processing gifts
Manages, coordinates, and executes stewardship events and services for VP’s portfolio, including but not limited to taking ticket orders and exchanges; arranging sponsorship benefits such as thank you dinners; delivery of flowers; helping arrange memorial services; assisting VP answering donor enquiries
Responsible for the successful and efficient management of internal and external meetings including coordination of venues, materials, travel itineraries, schedules and other essentials
Responsible for reviewing and preparing the VP’s monthly expense reports
Performs Welcome Desk and Founders Room Lounge duty as part of the major gifts team
Represents the department and the VP on committees as assigned
Works with Symphony staff in other departments to facilitate Development functions and initiatives
Runs the weekly Development Staff meeting, including scheduling meetings, management of agenda and support materials
Handles the Development Committee, including preparation of schedules, agendas, action items reports, arranging support materials
Other duties as assigned

Understands fundraising theory, including the fundraising cycle, moves management and event coordination
BA/BS; or equivalent work experience
2-4 years administrative work experience in an office setting
Please note this position requires work on evenings, weekends, and some holidays. This position is a full-time salaried position with benefits.
