Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Appalachian State University seeks an experienced grant and contracts manager for this new position. The successful candidate and 5 th member of this dynamic Sponsored Programs team will support proposal management tasks in a central research office.
Primary Duties include:
Manage pre and post-award programmatic actions for a select set of departments as the primary point of contact with Sponsored Programs for both the assigned departments and their sponsors.
Maintain knowledge of federal, state, foundation, and private sponsor requirements.
Assist in the development of policies and procedures that enable the University to effectively and efficiently fulfil sponsored project obligations.
Assisting with the creation and delivery of local training programs.
Conducting sponsored projects Conflict of Interest reviews in collaboration with the Office of Research Protections.
Tracking and Assisting with Fellowship submissions.
Three years of relevant experience that includes project/program and proposal development, writing and budgeting; the submission of proposals through electronic systems and experience using federal electronic management systems; the development of related policies, procedures or practices; management of Conflict of Interest reviews; knowledge of government grants, contracts, and compliance regulations.
Sponsored Programs Certification – Certified Research Administrator (CRA), Certified Grants Management Specialist (CGMS) is preferred.
