Florida Hospital Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation – RDV is located on the first floor of the RDV Sportsplex; a 365,000 square foot building designed to promote the health and wellness of individuals and their families. As part of therapy, patients have access to over 450 pieces of strength and cardiovascular equipment. Services offered include physical therapy, occupational therapy and aquatic therapy for adolescent, adult and elderly patients for a variety of orthopedic diagnoses ranging from pre- and post-surgical to minor sprains and strains. The staff at this facility includes therapists board certified in hand therapy and orthopedics as well as certified manual therapists. Our highly trained team provides individualized, evidence based and progressive treatment using a sports medicine approach.
Florida Hospital Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation has thirteen unique outpatient locations throughout Central Florida. Our specialty services include medical fitness and massage, orthopedic and sports injuries, wound care, brain injury, dysphasia, joint pain, pediatric conditions and injuries, pelvic health rehabilitation, amputation, hearing services, facial paralysis, neurological rehabilitation, vestibular/balance, lymphedema, concussion, and stroke. here.

The Exercise Therapist/Exercise Physiologist Provides direct and indirect services to specific age groups in the Outpatient Rehabilitation and Wellness Centers. Utilizes process improvement in achieving the goals of the Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine Department. Adheres to the Florida Hospital Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies, and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
Entry-level professional competency of Exercise Physiology theory, principles and applications as defined in competencies departmental policy and commitment to patient oriented practice.
At least a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Science or related field
Basic computer skills to include Outlook, Microsoft Office and Windows (Preferred)
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
Demonstrates through behavior Florida Hospital's Core Values of Integrity, Compassion, Balance, Excellence, Stewardship and Teamwork as outlined in the organization's Performance Excellence Program
Coordinates exercise program including referral proceedings, scheduling, program planning and exercise supervision to achieve the goals of the Rehabilitation Department, patient/client and Physician.
Provides appropriate documentation of all proceedings to ensure program quality and meet hospital and department standards. Also records additional pertinent information in notes and other appropriate forms at time of occurrence.
Performs and interprets the results of the physiological assessment accurately. Recognizes high-risk individuals and designs/refers appropriate exercise prescription.
Utilizes communication skills appropriate to the population served, which may include: Pediatric (1 < 12 yrs), Adolescent (12 < 18 yrs), Adult (18 < 65 yrs) and Geriatric (65 + yrs).
Maintains patient/client safety by explaining and demonstrating correct exercise technique and equipment use, closely supervising all activities and discontinuing patient's exercise if condition warrants.
Educates and leads wellness participants and community members in all wellness related topics and exercise classes.
Practices principles of employee and patient safety when performing daily job activities via observation.
Actively promotes and implements marketing plan specific to the program as appropriate
