Assistant/ Associate Professor- Institute for Global Health - (170000JC)
The Center for Vaccine Development (CVD) and the Division of Infectious Disease and Tropical Pediatrics at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is recruiting for an Assistant/Associate Professor to join their rapidly expanding, multidisciplinary infectious disease and vaccine research program. The CVD is a well-funded research enterprise that encompasses the full range of vaccinology, with highly successful programs in vaccine-preventable disease epidemiology, pathogenesis, and immunology, vaccine development, clinical trials, and population-based field studies. CVD resides within a newly-created Institute for Global Health, with fully equipped clinical, laboratory and in-patient and outpatient challenge facilities in Baltimore, MD as well as international field sites in Mali, Malawi, Myanmar, Chile and elsewhere. The Divisions of Infectious Disease and Tropical Pediatrics, Department of Pediatrics, and Geographic Medicine, Department of Medicine, reside within the CVD. The Division of Infectious Disease and Tropical Pediatrics comprises eight full time clinical faculty and four full time research faculty. The Division is responsible for the pediatric infectious disease inpatient and outpatient consult service, pediatric antibiotic stewardship activities, and the pediatric infectious disease fellowship program which is supported by a Vaccinology T32 Training Grant.
This opening provides the exciting opportunity to join a collaborative and accomplished clinical and research team to design, execute and lead clinical trials of vaccines and therapeutics at domestic and international sites, to investigate the pathogenesis of infectious and immunologic diseases, and to attend on the Pediatric Infectious Disease Clinical Service. The integration of clinical research scientists with epidemiologists, immunologists, and basic scientists provides a rich environment to expand or develop an independent research program in vaccinology. The faculty appointment will be at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, non-tenure track, commensurate with experience and based on guidelines for faculty appointment at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. This is a full-time faculty position, based in Baltimore.
