The University of California, Davis School of Medicine is launching a national search for a Division Chief of Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine. The UC Davis Children’s Hospital is a busy 118 bed service including a NICU, PICU, Pediatric Ward and Pediatric Emergency Department. The Pediatric Pulmonary Division has an active clinical service with programs dedicated to Cystic Fibrosis, sleep disorders, home ventilation, and asthma. The Division also has an active bronchoscopy service.
The position is open at the Associate/Full Professor rank (commensurate with credentials) in the Clinical X or Health Sciences Clinical Professor series. The candidates will be expected to participate in clinical care, teaching of medical students, residents and fellows, and research activities of the Department of Pediatrics and serve on certain departmental committees. The candidates will be expected to do clinical service at participating regional hospitals. Additionally, candidates with research interests will have access to clinical, translational and basic research facilities at UC Davis.
Specific responsibilities include:
Provide care for pediatric pulmonary pediatrics patients
Act as a consultant to other services as needed
Attend inpatient, outpatient and hospital based clinics at both the UCDMC campus and the Shriner's Hospital for Children
Teach pediatric residents
Teach medical students
Research and publication training including grant funding (if applicable)
Provide both formal didactic sessions and clinical supervision for students and housestaff.
Serve as junior medical student preceptor on a rotational basis of every 1 - 2 years.
Participate in section and departmental meetings, conferences, hospital and departmental committees.
The candidates must have the following experience/qualifications:
M.D. or D.O.
Successful completion of an approved pediatric residency training program
Successful completion of an approved pediatric pulmonary fellowship
Board certification in Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine
Eligibility for a California Medical License
At least 8 years of excellence in clinical care, education, and administrative experience is required.
