Coordinates orientation & First Year Experience efforts with all departments, centers, & divisions; serves on campus committees & task forces as a Campus Life representative.
Attends presentations & seminars & monitors developments in higher education to stay abreast of issues & concerns affecting student retention, orientation, First Year Experience; keeps informed regarding effective student transition tracking methods used at other institutions.
Recruits, trains, & supervises campus faculty, staff, & student volunteers involved in mentoring students, conducting classroom presentations, & assisting with orientation & First Year Experience events.
Develops & administers the orientation & First Year Experience programming budget; prepares & presents status reports on a periodic basis or as directed; advises the manager of budgetary issues, needs, & problems; initiates corrective action to resolve problems as authorized.
Serves on district committees & participates in programs, events, & initiatives which are relevant to student orientation & First Year Experience; serves as a district representative at outside functions & provides information pertaining to orientation & First Year Experience.
Communicates the college's mission & progress regarding student orientation & First Year Experience transition initiatives to campus community, Leadership Team, & Board of Trustees.
Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in related field & over three (3) years relevant full-time experience in training, teaching, curriculum development, educational evaluations, special event planning, project/program coordination, & recruiting & training volunteers, preferably in a higher education environment.
Master's degree. Experience in event planning in a college or university setting. Knowledge of best practices in first year experience programs.
