We are now hiring for an hourly Recovery Specialist to join our Southwest Team!
The Recovery Specialist is a person who has first-hand knowledge and experience within the mental health system that will provide services to clients with mental illness and substance abuse issues within the Living Room program.
The Living Room is a National, evidenced based hospital deflection program in which clients in crisis receive peer support to deescalate and restore healthy functioning without need for in-patient services. The Living Room is located in the South Suburbs and is open both during day time and evening hours.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assist clients in understanding, seeking and achieving the best possible outcomes, including complete recovery.
Provide information to clients/family members about mental illness, treatment options, and natural supports/community resources.
Co-facilitate prevention/education, wellness, and skill building groups for clients together with Metropolitan staff.
Give presentations to clients, family members and professionals as needed.
Work with Community Support Team staff to ensure family involvement in all aspects of the client’s services, as applicable.
Assist clinicians identify strengths and needs of the consumers.
Assist consumers to develop and maintain a personal wellness plan.
Attend provider multi-disciplinary staffings and/or team meetings when requested by clirents or staff, in compliance with confidentiality restrictions.
Participate in program policy and procedure development and implementation as it relates to client/family needs.
To work collaboratively as a member of the treatment team that includes clients, families, Metropolitan staff and other provider staff.
To organize work activities and maintain records.
Must have the ability to navigate multiple systems including but not limited to DHS/DMH, DORS, Criminal Justice, Substance Abuse, and education/employment programs.
Must be a person who has first-hand knowledge and experience within the mental health system.
High School Diploma required.
Must have access to a vehicle, proof of insurance and valid driver’s license to perform essential job functions required.
Must pass a State of Illinois background check, as required by Metropolitan Family Services' policy.
Must attend and complete the 40 Certification Program for Recovery Specialists within one (1) year of hire date.
Must be able to recognize when to ask for help and/or decline assignments that are counter-indicted to maintaining his/her own wellness plan.
Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
