The Masters School seeks a leave replacement teacher from March 26 – June 15, 2018. Ideal candidates will be energized by teaching in a student-centered classroom that values deep, experiential learning. We are looking for candidates who have also demonstrated a commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion, within and outside the classroom. Masters is eager to consider application from traditionally underrepresented groups. A passion for working with middle school students, the ability to collaborate with other teachers and a sense of humor are essential.
Teach 4 sections of 7th grade Biology
Serve as an advisor
Provide supervision during recess, in study hall and in other moments of the school day, as needed
Attend 7th grade team meeting and Middle School faculty meetings
Participate in the life of the Middle School by attending full group activities including morning meeting, student presentations and performances and culminating events
SKILLS, CHARACTERISTICS & REQUIREMENTS:
Understanding of and desire to work with middle school students
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Energy, enthusiasm and curiosity – willingness to be a fellow learner with students
Proficient in the use of technology
Bachelor’s degree in Science and/or Science education required, Masters preferred
Prior teaching experience with middle school-aged students
Familiar with and willing to explore student-centered pedagogical approaches
