This position serves in a Histology Lab Team Leader role working to meet service and stated laboratory goals. The team lead performs and coordinates the team in specimen receiving, accessioning, laboratory processing and testing in accordance with laboratory procedures and policies. Assumes responsibility for monitoring adherence to PNHS and laboratory policies and procedures. Effectively engages team, communicates with leader, participates in planning, implementing policies, procedures and staffing to ensure uninterrupted quality personalized care and service to our customers (patients, pathologists, care teams). Works under the direction of the Laboratory Technical Supervisor to engage team, oversee daily operational workflow and schedule adjustments, assists in evaluation and implementation of quality improvements, new processes, audits, monitors, test methodology, instrumentation and ensures compliance with the standards of accrediting and regulatory agencies.
Associates Degree, minimum, in Histotechnology or related area with 5 years’ experience working in an Anatomic Pathology/Histology Laboratory in the recent 10 years or equivalent education/experience.
HT (ASCP) certified or eligible. Must attain certification within 12 months of hire.
Certification by The American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
Progressive leadership experience in the laboratory with teams and/or committee work.
Experienced collaborator, well developed verbal and written verbal communication skills
Attention to detail, ability to perform histology technical work requiring manual dexterity, problem solving & customer service skills
Ability to work independently and has demonstrated emotional intelligence skill.
