MSK is seeking a Bioinformatics Software Engineer to join Dr. Luis Diaz's new Solid Tumor Team . Under supervision of the group leader, will provide support to research projects at the Center by designing, developing, and implementing software tools for processing and analyzing high-throughput next-generation sequencing data. In addition, will provide one-on-one consultation and training to research scientists and bioinformatics and software engineers at the Center in the use of bioinformatics software tools and databases.
Process and analyze data from high-throughput next-generation sequencing
Design, develop, and operate software and databases as part of bioinformatics data processing and analysis system
Responsible for program design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation
Provide consultation and guidance to research scientists, as well as other bioinformatics and software engineers, at the Center
Train researchers in the use of computational and bioinformatics tools and develop training modules
Capable of building strong customer relationships and delivering customer-centric solutions
A good decision-maker, with proven success at making timely decisions that keep the organization moving forward
Able to work effectively in an environment notable for complex, sometimes contradictory information
Consistently achieving results, even under tough circumstances
Adept at planning and prioritizing work to meet commitments aligned with organizational
Adept at building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives and goals

Master's Degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or Mathematics
Bachelor's degree and related or equivalent experience
Cross-disciplinary and strong analytic skills, as well as broad experience with bioinformatics methods, software and computer programming languages are essential
