The Department of Pathology has an outstanding opportunity for a full time RESEARCH SCIENTIST ENGINEER 1. Competitive candidates will be technically skilled in organizing and summarizing data, with a strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy. Inherent is a willingness to work in a learning environment and being able to effectively communicate and collaborate. This position provides an opportunity to work in a leading Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease research laboratory.
Research focuses for this position include but are not limited to:
Research Biomarkers; complete biomarker investigations related to theetiology and progression of neurodegenerative disorders, including Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease.
Characterization of protein expression in tissue samples of human and rodent origin.
Process human tissue samples; conducting lysis and protein extraction methods
Developing and performing ELISA and/or Luminex assays
Responsible for the laboratory administration for the Luminex, MSD, and Quanterix area.
Maintain records of data; Attend lab meetings and present research results
Manage inventory of consumables,
Assist with routine maintenance of the equipment, and organizing equipment service visits
Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry or related fields; including one year of relevant research experience
Additional Requirements: This position also requires excellent communication skills in order collaborate with all users of the existing equipment (lab personnel, graduate students, visiting researchers, undergraduate students, etc.). Willing to learn and assist in secondary tasks
