Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Manager of Central Processing, Clinical Laboratory
In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for the operation of Central Processing Area of the Clinical Laboratory to ensure coverage and the timely processes of specimens, performs inquiries and accessions patient orders using the Laboratory and Hospital Computer systems for Inpatients and Outpatients and the regulatory requirements of JCAHO, College of American Pathologists, Department of Health and HIPPA.
Responsible for the development of existing and future clinical processes of the laboratories. Identifies the needs of the laboratories and assures that the current systems will provide sufficient level of service. Develops methods to determine capacity and capability of staff and operations based on changes in the laboratories and their effectiveness in providing service. Develop application of technology to specific laboratory workflow requirements with the goal of optimizing productivity (for example bar coding, faxing, copying, computers). Provides project management leadership in implementing new systems and services.
Directs the scheduling of staff and operations to assure the highest levels of coverage and completeness. Directs staff and programs in Facility monitoring, actions, documentation. Defines the levels and standards to be maintained in the Central Laboratory Processing Area and creates a backup and recovery program to restore functionality. Establishes security systems to ensure safety of staff and equipment.
Directs the policies and procedures that provide recruitment and retention of staff. Interviews prospective employees and makes independent hiring decisions based on sound criteria. Recognizes the need to counsel subordinates and performs counseling in a timely manner. Explains clearly to the employee what his/her responsibilities are and the standards of performance necessary to do the job. Offers guidance, improving performance where necessary, to the employee. Rewards and disciplines subordinates in accordance with personnel policies and procedures. Brings to the employees attention areas of performance needing immediate improvement as soon as they are noticed with a timely plan to correct and action to be taken if unable to correct.
Directs the staff development within the department. Plans the training and development of staff in advance of implementation. Ensures that policies and procedures are up to date. Recognizes and identifies staff needs and develops programs to meet those needs. Maintains records of staff training and monitors effectiveness and adjusts as needed.
Planning and Procedure development. Documents all policy and procedures in the department according to the NCCLS guide. Assures version control and revisions are signed off and documented in various manuals. Assures compliance of procedures is also documented. Provides review of and compliance with DOH and CAP requirements.
Responsible for providing cost effective approach to all assignments by working within Capital and Operating Budgets. Responsible for budgetary targets and reviews costs frequently, documents decisions. Keeps abreast of new developments, techniques and methods regarding laboratory services, computer hardware and software. Attends professional meetings regularly. Enhances professional growth through attendance at seminars, conferences, continuing education courses.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Developed new courier services to facilitate Epic outreach sites specimen transport.
Developed patient and specimen workflow in department for newly arrange Wellness programs.
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Bachelors Degree in Science, Health Administration or a related field. Minimum of 4 years progressive experience relative experience working a Multi-Hospital Medical Center Clinical Laboratory Central Processing Area.
Preferred Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications: Masters Degree in Healthcare Administration 6 years progressive experience relative experience managing a Multi-Hospital Medical Center Clinical Laboratory Central Processing Area.
